Oxidative stress is a series of adaptive reactions caused by the imbalance between the body's active oxygen components and the antioxidant system. Interfering with the normal redox state of cells will produce peroxides and free radicals, leading to toxic effects, thus damaging cell proteins, lipids and DNA. Immunomodulators can become more and more popular in the management of cancer, AIDS, autoimmune diseases or inflammatory diseases, but they are prone to side effects. Studies have pointed out that phycocyanin has antioxidant properties. Therefore, this report focuses on the anti-oxidant activity of phycocyanin in vivo and in vitro and the role of immune regulation. Through animal experiments, it is found that phycocyanin is safe and non-toxic. It can be found that the antioxidant activity in the body is increased, the level of antioxidant enzymes is increased, and the immunity can be enhanced. Explore the in vitro antioxidant activity of phycocyanin. According to cell experiments, it can be found that the determination of DPPH, FRAP, HORAC, hydrogen peroxide, total antioxidant capacity and reducing capacity will increase with the increase of the dose of phycocyanin. In summary, phycocyanin has antioxidant activity and has the potential to be a natural immunomodulator.
