摘 要:
Atopic dermatitis (AD) is an allergic skin disease accompanied by chronic inflammation that is characterized by severe itching, redness, dryness, and eczematous skin lesions and is associated with high serum level of immunoglobulin (Ig)E. Although the pathogenesis of AD is not fully understood, it is known to be caused by a variety of genetic, environmental, and immunological factors, alongside exposure to microorganisms or allergens. Probiotics are live nonpathogenic bacteria that provide health benefits when consumed such as strengthening of the
gastrointestinal (GI) epithelial barrier, inhibiting the growth of enteric pathogens, improving the balance of gut microbiota, and enhancing host intestinal immune function. Lactic acid bacteria (LAB) strains are important in maintaining gut homeostasis and provide health benefits through balancing T helper type 1 (Th1) and T helper type 2 (Th2) immune responses.
