Explore the cytotoxicity of tilapia skin collagen and the wound healing ability of wound dressings made from Oreochromis niloticus in rats model

摘  要: Studies have shown that collagen can promote cell adhesion and proliferation, and can synthesize and increase various growth factors. However, collagen from terrestrial organisms may have potential diseases. Therefore, marine organisms have developed as an alternative source, among which fish skin collagen can improve the rat growth and proliferation of fibroblasts and keratinocytes in the model. Therefore, this report focuses on the cytotoxicity of tilapia skin collagen on fibroblasts, as well as on the wound healing capacity and expression of skin appendages, growth factors and collagen in the wound in a rat model. Through the cytotoxicity test, it can be found that tilapia skin collagen can promote the growth of fibroblasts. In animal experiments, the wound area treated by tilapia skin collagen was smaller than other samples and the wound healing rate was also the collagen treated group showed the highest wound healing rate. After staining, it was even found that the speed of the epidermis of the wound layer formation was increased, and there was obvious production of skin appendages, epidermal growth factor, fibroblast growth factor, CD-31, and collagen.
Therefore, tilapia skin collagen may replace terrestrial organisms as a novel collagen wound dressing.
