摘 要: The aim of this study is to investigate the effects of empowering curriculum of 8-week weight management for undergraduate students. The study methods were reviewed and approved by Institutional Review Board of National Taiwan Normal University. Thirty-three
participants were involved in this study. By paired samples t-test, the results showed that this curriculum improve body composition of participants, such as body weight (from 69.4± 13.4 kg to 68.3 ± 13.6 kg), body mass index (BMI) (from 25.0 ± 3.6 kg/m2 16 to 24.5 ± 3.6
kg/m2 ), body fat (BF) (from 29.0 ± 4.7% to 26.5 ± 4.9%), blood pressure (BP) (systolic pressure from 114.3 ± 10.9 mmHg to 110.3 ± 10.6 mmHg, diastolic pressure from 74.1 ± 4.8 mmHg to 70.2 ± 5.4 mmHg); indicators in the questionnaire such as self-efficacy (from
37.3 ± 7.7 to 47.5 ± 7.8), nutritional knowledge (from 5.4 ± 1.7 to 10.0 ± 2.0), attitudes (from 106.4 ± 10.8 to 118.6 ± 14.4), subjective norm (from 45.6 ± 5.4 to 49.4 ± 6.3), availability (19.2 ± 3.6), interpersonal relationship (from 46.4 ± 9.6 to 55.4 ± 9.4) and
behavior (from 6.5 ± 1.7 to 7.9 ± 1.0); physical fitness such as standing long jump (from 155.2 ± 35.0 cm to 158.0 ± 35.4 cm), one-minute sit up test (from 32.7 ± 7.0 times to 34.4 ± 6.4 times) and 1,600 m run-walk (663.7 ± 110.9 secs reduced to 588.9 ± 115.6 secs). By
independent samples t-test, the results showed that the curriculum is effective for particiants with both gender and nationalities. After curriculum, the diastolic blood pressure of participants with 27 ≤ BMI <35 reduced greater than participants with 24 ≤ BMI <27. Besides, the nutritional knowledge improved more in male with 14% ≤ BF < 20% and female with 24% ≤ BF < 30% as compared to male with BF ≥ 20% and female with BF ≥ 30%. The systolic blood pressure of participants with prehypertension reduced greater than participants with normal BP after curriculum. In summary, this curriculum improves the body composition, blood pressure, self-efficacy and physical fitness for undergraduate students with high body fat.
