食品包裝材質包括塑膠材料及非塑膠材料，常見的塑膠材質為聚氯乙烯（Polyvinyl chloride，PVC）、聚苯乙烯（Polystyrene，PS）、聚乙烯(Polyethylene，PE)、聚丙烯（Polypropylene，PP）等。鄰苯二甲酸酯可作為塑化劑，被廣泛使用在上述塑膠材質的生產，這類化合物已證實會擾亂生物體內的內分泌系統。飲食可以說是每日塑化劑的主要暴露來源。由於現代預防醫學觀念的普及，消費者常會購買保健食品來維持健康。本研究的目的乃以北北基部地區民眾對保健食品中的塑化劑認知及消費行為做調查，了解台北、基隆地區民眾對保健食品中塑化劑及塑化劑毒性認知程度，並探討不同人口統計變數的消費者對保健食品的購買決策及購買保健食品動機和購買考慮因素上的差異，將最後分析的結果提供保健食品選購的建議，及未來避免購入受塑化劑汙染風險保健食品的參考。研究範圍包含市面上的保健食品，對象為台灣北部地區民眾，採用問卷調查方式，在各大公共場所採隨機方式進行問卷調查。依問卷調查所得各項資料進行敘述性統計、交叉比對分析處理。問卷分為5個部分：1.個人的基本資料、2.受測民眾對於塑化劑的認知程度、3.衡量受測民眾對於保健食品的認知部分、4.受測民眾對於保健食品之想法及偏好、5.受測民眾對於保健食品的實際消費行為。研究結果，實際有效樣本數351份，在北部地區民眾的保健食品產品交易特性中：1.教育程度高低對塑化劑的認知有顯著性的差異，年齡越高對塑化劑的認知也越高、2.人口統計年齡20歲以下「知道2011年塑化劑事件」與「不知道2011年塑化劑事件」有顯著性的差異、3.對於保健食品之購買選擇所重視的特質前三項依次為:安全性、有認證、有標示、4.消費者購買保健食品時為避免塑化劑攝入選擇的產品型態為「錠狀」比例最高(43.6%)。包裝型態以「玻璃瓶器」包裝的保健食品最高(72.9%)、5.消費者購買保健食品時考量的因素最注重「健康食品認證」與「產品標示」。

Phthalates, also known as plasticizers, have been referred as endocrine disruptors and the culprits of 2011 food safety event. Plasticizers were widely used in making food packaging materials, such as polyvinyl chloride (PVC), polystyrene (PS), polyethylene (PE), polypropylene (PP) and so on. Contradictorily, consumers exposed themselves to the risk of endocrine disruptors, while they consume healthy food rapped with phthalate-contained materials for healthy purposes suggested by modern prevention medicine. This conflict inspired this questionnaire survey study both to shore up public awareness from plasticizer abuse event, and to probe purchase motivation and choice among variant consumer groups among Taipei and Keelung area. The questionnaire survey related to openly-marked healthy food was conducted by publicly interviewing randomly-selective participants. The questionnaire collected information of 5 designated categories : 1. participants, 2. public awareness towards plasticizer abuse event, 3. consumer recognition about healthy food, 4. consumers’ prospective and preference, 5. heathy food purchase behavior.
The questionnaire survey, based on the survey resulting from 351 participants, indicated : 1. the extension of education and age affects food safety concern positively; the older and more educated concern the more. 2. The awareness of plasticizer abuse event in 2011 indicated two distinguished age groups divided by age 20. The event’s impact on the youth, who care less, fades away quickly. 3. the priority of purchase preferences ranked as safety, certificated, and properly labeled, accordingly. 4. “Tablet (43.6%)” and “glass bottle (72.9%)” are most preferred formation and package in order to avoid phthalate risks 5. “Healthy food certification” and “product labeling” are the most importance factors while consumers making purchase decisions.
